On Saturday, Fighting Alliance will make their Canadian debut in the “Port City” of Saint John. The promotion gained notoriety by wowing fans in Pakistan, and featured fighters who had competed or gone on to compete in BAMMA and ONE among others. FA7: Legends is set to feature eight bouts of top mixed martial arts, so let’s have a look at the card and what Maritime fans can expect!

In our conversation on episode #28 of the Fight Night Picks Podcast with Fighting Alliance’s Zubair Asghar, CEO of Impact Sports Productions, he said that in order to boost the promotion “there’s only one way for it to grow, and that’s to take it abroad…Canada is looking for people to promote sports and culture, so here I am.”

The full card shakes out as follows:

The majority of the card is comprised of Canadian fighters, with a large contingency belonging to gyms across Ontario. Victory Jiu-Jitsu, of Dieppe, New Brunswick will be represented by Scott MacKinnon who is making his amateur debut. His teammate Michael Chapleau had this to say about the BJJ blue belt “very talented at jiu-jitsu, recently competed at a tournament in Ontario, one of the largest jiu-jitsu tournaments in Canada and won gold in his division.” “He’s placed in the Rickson Gracie Cup in New York and regularly medals in local tournaments.”

Three fighters will also be fighting out of Fit Plus MMA of Halifax, Nova Scotia, including one half of the co-main Brad Sullivan. He’s making his pro debut against a proven boxer, Bouctouche’s own (1-0) Marc Hebert. Hebert also sports a 5-3 amateur record, all five wins by finish.

In the main event, (10-8) Matthew “The Cat” DiMarcantonio of Para Bellum MMA in Oakville, Ontario will be taking on Brit (6-10) Dan Gibbon who’s representing Gorilla Team. DiMarcantonio has fought in King of the Cage and CES in the past against the likes of UFC fighters Desmond Green and Rob Font. As for Gibbon, he’s riding a three fight win streak, with five of six pro wins by submission.
