Last weekend’s NEF 35 event from Bangor, Maine wowed fans with 11/12 fights ending by finish. The card featured five pro bouts, including wins earned by promotional staples Ryan Sanders (17-9) and Aaron Lacey (6-2). Earlier on Saturday, NEF announced their return to Portland, Maine and almost a week later the card is already beginning to take shape.

On Thursday, it was announced that previous main event feature Aaron Lacey will be dropping back down to featherweight, competing for the promotion’s title against well-known veteran Bill Jones (13-10). Jones, who’s been competing as a pro since 2007, has wins over UFC talent the likes of Tateki Matsuda (13-9) and Matt Bessette (22-9). In Lacey’s case, he dropped a tough decision to Da’Mon Blackshear (5-2) in the featured matchup at NEF 34 in June. He moved back up to lightweight for the first time since his amateur debut last weekend against Jon Lemke (7-9), winning by first round submission in his hometown.

Also announced this week for November’s card are two women’s amateur fights between bantamweights Catie Denning (1-0) and Taylor Thompson (2-0), as well as a flyweight contest between B.J. Garceau (1-0) and Chelsea Tucker (0-3). Thompson is the sole newcomer to NEF, previously competing in Cage Titans, and owns two finishes on her record.

The promotion will be returning to Aura in Portland for NEF 36, an intimate venue in the heart of downtown. Maritime and New England fight fans be sure to check out the upcoming card!
