New England Fights 34: Home of the Brave
We’re live from Aura in Portland, Maine bringing you NEF 34! There are 18 scheduled fights on the card, including 2 professional bouts and 2 amateur title fights. The state of Maine has not adopted the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts.

Sarah Matulis, 1st round, back mounted rear-naked choke SUB

Greg Waterbury (124.0) vs. Brady MacDonald (123.6)
Brady MacDonald by 1st round guillotine, 15 sec
Curtis Ouellette (168.6) vs. Dalton Dunphy (168.4)
Curtis Ouelette by 2nd round KO, 42 sec. Possible FOTN contender, clean striking to start round #1 but Ouellette was able to pull away with a commanding end to round 1. Had Dunphy in a tough spot against the cage, power punches but ref determined that Dunphy was intelligently defending himself. Round 2 began much the same way and Ouellette was able to capitalize.
Jack Greene (136.0) vs. Henry Clark (136.0)
Quick takedown, but Clark able to scramble and gain position to get the win by D’Arce choke at 1:17 of the first round.
Jordan Norman (180.6) vs. Zac Lawrence (181.6)
Quick left followed up by ground and pound, TKO win for Zac Lawrence at 7 seconds.
Angelo Rizzitello (153.2) vs. Clifford Redman (157.0)
Submission win for the much longer fighter Angelo Rizzitello coming at 35 seconds of the 1st round. Redman came out swinging with a barrage of haymakers but Rizzitello was able to withstand the storm and pull off the submission in a scramble.
Carter Labreque (149.6) vs. Josiah Kenney (147.6)
Labreque with the 1st round, 1:51, TKO stoppage win. Barnburner of a round, both came to brawl with Labreque landing far more shots and finishing with a flurry of uppercuts.
Glory Watson (129.4) vs. Chelsea Tucker (129.0)
Flurry to start the round. Glory Watson with the early takedown but scramble ensues. Tucker winning the scrambles and gaining position. Wonderful scrambles by both fighters, Watson coming out on top and winning at 2:34 of the 1st round by arm triangle.
Jordan Young (140.4) vs. Glenn Kasabian (139.0)
Good movement on the feet by both fighters. Kasabian able to gain position in the clinch, but beginning to eat shots. Lots of clinch work. Powerful takedown by Young, top control. 10-9 Young
Young gaining clinch position to start the second round. Neither guy wanting to go to the mat. Guillotine attempt by Kasabian for not. Late round submission attempt for Kasabian not able to get finish as we head into round #3. 10-9 Kasabian
Young able to knock Kasabian down with an elbow. Kasabian with the armbar, very tight. We’re going to a decision. 10-9 Kasabian
3×3 decision win for UD 29-28 Kasabian.
Eric Camacho (189.0) vs. Mark Gardner (183.4)
2 hard throws by Gardner, sinks the RNC. Camacho gets out and has a standing guillotine. Camacho with a huge slam, resulting in an armbar SUB win for Gardner. Very technical fight. Ended at 2:32 of the first round.
Amateur Bantamweight Title Fight: Kam Arnold (135.0) vs. Killian Murphy (134.0)
Early takedown attempt by Murphy. Clinch and Arnold gains position. Murphy’s guillotine ends up in a takedown for Arnold. Wild flurry of punches and Arnold’s mouthpiece is sent flying. Tough round to score, Murphy 10-9.
Shots about even to start the 2nd. Arnold winning the exchanges. Potential eye poke results in Murphy winning an exchange. Arnold dropping Murphy with a hard shot to end the 2nd. 10-9 Arnold.
Murphy landing flush with a great combo. Both fighters landing hard leg kicks. Murphy losing his mouthguard as momentum began to swing in Arnold’s favour. Arnold winning another flurry at the end of this round. 10-9 Arnold.
Arnold drops Murphy with a left, unable to capitalize on the ground. Arnold winning on the feet. Arnold with the KO punch win.
Amateur Welterweight Title Fight: Duncan Smith (170.0) vs. Charlton Charles (168.0)
Quick takedown for Duncan Smith. Transitions from full guard to side control, landing left knees to the body and keeping Charles down. Total control by Smith, potential 10-8 round.
Another takedown for Smith. Charles able to scramble and get the fight standing. Stuffs 3 takedown attempts in a row and aims for a guillotine. Tight choke but unable to get the finish. 10-9 Charles
Charles beginning to solve the takedowns, Smith expending a lot of energy on them. Smith transitions to back mount, landing shots. Top mount Smith landing shots, into back into RNC. 10-9 Smith
Charles can’t hold on and Smith able to land another takedown. Going for the back mount again, RNC in and it’s over. Duncan Smith is the new NEF amateur welterweight champ.
Professional Bout: Ryan Sanders (157.6) vs. Vince McGuiness (155.2)
Sanders clinching up and looking for the takedown. Throwing knees that are landing to the left leg of McGuiness. Sanders locks up the guillotine and the fight’s on the ground. Sanders working hard for the takedowns, McGuiness gaining more top time. Sanders with the very late arm bar finish, injuring McGuiness. Verbal submission with 2 seconds left of the first round.
Professional Bout: Aaron Lacey (144.0) vs. Da’Mon Blackshear (145.4)
Both fighters with extensive pro and amateur experience. Both guys exchanging, Lacey controlling the centre of the cage. Blackshear with the takedown, gaining position. Lacey looks adept on his back. Lacey attempting to get back to his feet, but Blackshear pressuring the action and keeping him down. Fight back on the feet. Blackshear with the massive takedown getting close to the end of the round. Lacey’s been able to get back up to his feet but unable to escape clinch. 10-9 Blackshear
Blackshear landing effective jabs, clinching up again. Blackshear able to check kicks well, back into clinch before throwing an illegal knee. Lacey getting back into it, landing in the exchanges. Blackshear seems to have the advantage on the feet. Clinching up, Blackshear able to further control the round. Lacey landing knees and body punches. Another 10-9 Blackshear, as he goes for a very late round RNC.
Lacey stuffs the takedown attempt initially, Blackshear able to gain position. Blackshear in back mount, able to get the body triangle. Lacey fighting the hands, gets out of the position. Back on the feet but Blackshear has underhooks. Lacey out of the clinch and throwing. Late takedown by Blackshear. 10-9 Blackshear
